About DEZ Engineering

Over 20 Years of Experience Across Civil Engineering and Surveying

DEZ Engineering is led by Mildred Hernandez, a civil engineering graduate with more than 20 years of professional experience across construction, infrastructure, engineering consulting, and corporate design management.

Her career began with the establishment of a construction company, where she gained hands-on field experience managing residential construction and infrastructure improvements for food-industry facilities. This early experience provided a practical understanding of construction operations, project coordination, and the relationship between design decisions and field implementation.

She later transitioned into engineering consulting, expanding her expertise in civil design, plan production, and project coordination across surveying, mining, industrial, and land-development environments.

Most recently, her experience as a Data Center Design Manager within a corporate engineering organization further strengthened her multidisciplinary perspective. Her responsibilities included technical staff direction, multidisciplinary coordination, resource planning, quality oversight, senior design review, project-study support, and resolution of technical issues for complex and confidential AI data center programs.

This breadth of experience informs DEZ Engineering’s practical, coordinated approach to civil design and technical production, combining an understanding of field conditions, detailed design requirements, and the broader demands of successful project delivery.

Technical Capabilities

Technology that supports accurate, coordinated project delivery.

Core tools and workflows include AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bluebeam Revu, stormwater and culvert-analysis software, Microsoft Excel, structured CAD standards, drawing-package controls, review workflows, and revision management.

The practice is supported by formal civil engineering education and continuing software, safety, and production training. Degree, course, and certificate details can be provided during project qualification when relevant.

Professional experience

Civil experience across complex project environments.

The experience below reflects professional responsibilities developed across prior employment, subcontract work, and current practice. It does not imply that DEZ Engineering was the contracted consultant, engineer of record, or responsible professional for every project described.

Client names, project names, locations, restricted information, and project-scale details remain confidential.

AI Data Center

Design-management experience on complex AI data center programs included technical staff direction, coordination across disciplines, resource planning, deliverable quality review, senior-level design review, project-study support, and resolution of technical issues affecting delivery.

This background supports DEZ Engineering's ability to work within fast-moving project teams where coordination, review discipline, resource awareness, confidentiality, and organized production are essential.

Commercial and Industrial Sites

Prior professional responsibilities included Civil 3D production for grading, storm drainage, underground utilities, access roads, demolition, civil details, erosion control, ponds, diversions, permit submittals, construction coordination, and record documentation for large industrial environments.

Mining and Large-Site Infrastructure

Experience includes surface-water-control structures, mine access roads, grading, drainage structures, culverts, ponds, diversions, watershed plans, and site-specific erosion control for active mining and industrial sites.

Responsibilities also included coordinating design production, submittals, approvals, construction changes, and as-built documentation through certification processes under the authority of the responsible project professionals.

Transportation and Railroad Coordination

Prior work included civil documents, plan production, and permit submittals associated with transportation agencies and railroad organizations. Specific clients, locations, and project details remain confidential.

Residential and Land Development

Experience includes site layouts, grading, storm drainage, underground utilities, road plans and profiles, erosion-control plans, construction details, and as-built documentation from existing conditions through review, construction changes, and final records.

Surveying and Record Documentation

Survey experience supports an understanding of how field information becomes a dependable base for design. That perspective continues through existing-condition plans, plat drafting support, as-builts, record updates, and coordination where final documentation depends on an accurate representation of constructed conditions.
